As one of college football's classic bowl games, the Sugar Bowl has produced plenty of thrills over the years. Sugar Bowl tickets are always a hot item among football fans!
Sugar Bowl Tickets: Historical Overview
Only the Rose Bowl has been around longer than the Sugar Bowl as a college football postseason game. The first game was played on New Year's Day in 1935 at Tulane Stadium in New Orleans. In 1975, the Sugar Bowl moved from Tulane Stadium into its current home at the Louisiana Superdome (capacity of 76,468).
Since 1950, the champion of the Southeastern Conference (SEC) has usually been one of the participants in the game. The Sugar Bowl is one of the four games that is part of the Bowl Championship Series (BCS). Every four years, New Orleans will host the BCS title game in addition to the regular Sugar Bowl contest. Unless the SEC champion is involved in the BCS National Championship Game, the best SEC squad will be involved in the Sugar Bowl matchup.
