As one of college basketball's top programs over the last 25 years, the Arizona Wildcats are quite popular in the desert. Arizona Wildcats tickets enable spectators to enjoy some top notch basketball action.
Arizona Wildcats Tickets: Historical Overview
While the Arizona Wildcats have an elite hoops program today, the school had very little success on the hardwood prior to the mid-eighties. Before the 1984-85 season, Arizona had reached the NCAA tournament on just three occasions.
The turnaround for the Wildcats began with the hiring of head coach Lute Olson in 1983. After suffering a losing season in his first year, Olson would go on to lead the Wildcats to 23 consecutive March Madness trips before retiring in 2007. The dominant stretch of basketball included four visits to the Final Four.
In football, the program is still looking to approach the success of the basketball squad. While the Wildcats have appeared in 15 bowl games over the years, the team has yet to play in a marquee New Year's Day postseason affair. In 1998, Arizona recorded its best season with a 12-1 mark to finish fourth in the country.
Championship Seasons
Under Olson, the Arizona Wildcats won 11 regular season Pac-10 titles. He also guided his clubs to four conference tournament crowns during his tenure.
After making two previous Final Four appearances in 1988 and 1994, the 1996-97 Wildcats reached the national semi-finals again. Arizona was able to defeat two of college basketball's heavyweights to capture a national championship. After taking out North Carolina in the semi-finals, the Wildcats topped Kentucky in the NCAA title game.
In football, Arizona's lone Pac-10 championship was in 1993.
