Toronto Blue Jays Tickets: History in the Great Blue North
The Toronto Blue Jays were part of the Major League's expansion and were founded in 1977, becoming the second MLB team to be based in Canada. Like most new franchises, the Blue Jays would battle hard, but not gain much in the standings in the initial years.
However, in the franchise's ninth year, they would put together 99 wins and capture their first ever division title. By 1989, their team building strategy was showing dividends, as they would again capture the division crown and would start a five year stretch where they would win at least 85 games a season. They had a solid core of players, including Alfredo Griffin, Kelly Gruber, Roberto Alomar, John Olerud, Derek Bell, Joe Carter, and Dave Stieb, among others.

To the Top!
The Blue Jays would again win their division in 1992 and were determined to avenge their three previous losses in the ALCS. They would meet the As in the first round and dispatch them in six games to win their first ever American League Pennant.
They would then meet the Atlanta Braves in the World Series. The Blue Jays would win the series in six games to capture the championship, becoming the fastest American League expansion franchise to win a World Series!
The following season, the Blue Jays would again reach the World Series, and in dramatic fashion, Joe Carter would provide a walk off game six series clinching homerun that would go down as one of the most exciting moments in World Series history!

Building on Tradition
This season, the Jays will turn to right fielder Jose Bautista who is coming off a monster year, where he had 54 HRs and 124 RBIs! Adding help to the offense will be the always productive center fielder Vernon Wells. Look for second baseman Aaron Hill to add some pop while bringing up his average this season. Young pitcher Ricky Romero will be the workhorse this year and should get his share of innings.
