Tech N9ne is a popular, underground rapper who is best known for his hardcore raps and speed-rap abilities. He has sold over one million records, and his songs have been heard on many major films, television shows and video games.
Tech N9ne's name came from the TEC-9 semi-automatic handgun. He was given this name by a fellow rapper because of his fast rhyming style. He has also said that his name also stands for "the complete technique of rhyme, with 'tech' meaning technique and 'nine' representing the number of completion."

Tech N9ne, born Aaron Yates in 1971, is a rapper from Kansas City, Missouri. He began rapping at an early age. His mother suffered from multiple illnesses, and his father was never around, thereby leading him to "search for God."
He became a member of the group, Black Mafia, during his early career, and he signed with Perspective Records in 1993. He then signed to Qwest Records and then moved onto JCOR Records. In 1997, Tech N9ne joined the group The Regime and was also featured on the soundtrack for the film, Gang Related. Later that same year, he founded the record label, Strange Music, with Travis O'Guin.
In 2001, Tech N9ne released his album, Anghellic, on JCOR Records. In 2002, he went back to his own label and released four more albums. In 2009, Tech N9ne released two more albums. His next album, All 6s and 7s, is due to be released in June 2011.
