Hitting the music scene in San Francisco in the late sixties, Steve Miller forged a distinctive and almost psychedelic style that helped him and his band mates to slowly earn a following. Signing with Capitol Records in 1967, the band produced its first album in 1968 titled "Children of the Future" which actually met little success.

It wasn't until the early to mid seventies that the Steve Miller Band started hitting their groove. With "Space Cowboy" and "The Joker" finding success in the singles charts, he would complete his best album in 1976 with "Fly Like an Eagle," which ended up #3 on the Billboard charts for that year! This album would introduce to his fans the hit singles "Rock ‘N Me" and "Take the Money and Run" and would continue the band's momentum into international recognition.

By 1978, they had produced 10 albums and recorded enough hit songs for their 11th album "Greatest Hits 1974-78," which has sold over 13 million copies! They eventually followed this up in 1982 with the album "Abracadabra," with the song of the same name that would prove to be his third #1 hit song in the past decade.
