Silverstein is a post-hardcore band from Burlington, Ontario, who named their band after the children's author, Shel Silverstein, whom they admired as children. Originally formed as just a side project, Silverstein has achieved a considerable amount of success, including four studio albums, a compilation album and a live DVD/CD, and countless Silverstein tickets sold.
Silverstein consists of the following members, which haven't changed since December 2001: Shane Told, lead vocalist and guitarist; Neil Boshart, guitarist; Josh Bradford, guitarist; Billy Hamilton, bass guitarist and backup vocalist; and Paul Koehler, drummer.
The History of Silverstein Tickets
Silverstein originally formed their group in 2000, which was also the same year they released their debut album, Summer's Stellar Gaze. After going through several member changes, the band acquired Billy Hamilton, who responded to their need for a bassist on their Ontario-based Internet message board, The 905 Board. The new members came together and released their second album shortly afterward, entitled When the Shadows Beam.
The band then began preparing to selling Silverstein tickets for their tour in Eastern Canada and also signed with Victory Records in October 2002.
After the tour, the band immediately went back to the studio to record their first, full-length CD entitled When the Broken is Easily Fixed. It was released in May 2003 through Victory Records; six songs from their previous EPs were re-recorded and released for this full-length CD. This CD went on to sell more than 200,000 copies, surpassing many expectations.
In August 2005, the band went back to work to release their second, full-length album, Discovering the Waterfront; this was the first of many successful collaborations with producer Cameron Webb. This CD featured more energetic songs, and it also incorporated a punk rock sound that was never explored before by the band.
The band set off on the Never Sleep Again tour in 2005 and sold Silverstein tickets for the Taste of Chaos tour. They also opened for many festivals during that same year and also released their compilation album, 18 Candles: The Early Years.
Silverstein was nominated for a Juno award for Best New Band in 2006 and toured in the Never Shave Again tour in the same year. They released their third album in June 2007 and then sold Silverstein tickets and toured for much of 2008. Their next album, A Shipwreck in the Sand, was released in June 2009 and released a live DVD in June 2010. Their next album is due to be released in the Spring of 2011.
