We all love him from Everybody Loves Raymond, but Ray Romano has achieved success throughout his career for a number of other reasons.
The History of Ray Romano Tickets
Born in Queens, New York, in 1957, Ray Romano was the middle child of three sons. He began his career in comedy when, at the age of 16, he formed the comedy troupe No Talent and performed for his local congregation on a regular basis. He went on to enroll in Queens College and majored in accounting, all the while developing his skills through the late-night comedy circuit.
He worked tirelessly to break into the standup comedy world for the next decade, all while holding a steady day job to support his family (including a futon mattress delivery person and a bank teller). He finally decided to pursue a full-time career in comedy in 1987. After winning a radio comedy contest nearly two years later, he began to experience success in the comedy world.
His fame took off when he was finally able to perform for Johnny Carson in 1991. Afterwards, he landed a television appearance with David Letterman in 1995; Letterman began to talk to Romano about developing a sitcom, and just a year later, Everybody Loves Raymond premiered.
He achieved not only commercial success, but critical success as well, as he was nominated for multiple Emmy and Golden Globe awards during his run on his hit television show. He then began lending his voice to feature animated films.
In addition to his successful sitcom, Romano also performed at the White House Correspondents Dinner for Bill Clinton and Vice President Al Gore. He also won a TV Guide Award for Actor of the Year in 2001, the Funniest Male Lead in a TV Series at the 14th Annual American Comedy Awards in 2000, and the Television Critics Association Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement in Comedy in 1999.
Ray Romano Tickets: What to Expect
Romano's lighthearted humor and quirky observations about everyday life have made him a hit in households across America. His standup routine is similar, and he often tours with Brad Garrett, his sidekick on Everybody Loves Raymond. He is often said to heckle those audience members who sit in the front row, making for a fun, improvisational comedy act.
Ray Romano Tickets: Who Should Attend?
Although Ray Romano is mild when it comes to comedians, his standup act is aimed at adults and is therefore not likely suitable for children.
