Philadelphia Phillies Tickets: Talk About Tradition!
The Phillies are the oldest continuous, one-name, one-city franchise in all of professional American sports dating back to 1883. They made it to the World Series in 1915, where they lost to the Red Sox, and again in 1950, when they lost to the Yankees.
After decades of frustration, the Phillies would finally have another chance to win a championship in 1980. With a power packed roster including such greats as Mike Schmidt, who smashed 48 HRs that year, Pete Rose, Gary Maddox, Steve Carlton, Larry Bowa, and Greg Luzinski, the Phillies would win the NL East by one game over the Montreal Expos.
They would then beat the Astros in a tightly contested 5 game series to advance to the fall classic against the Royals. In six games, the Phillies would knock off the Royals to finally win their first World Series championship!

History Repeats Itself
Again the Phillies would put together a solid team and find success. However, they twice would lose the World Series in 1983 to the Orioles and in 1993 to the Blue Jays before getting their next chance to bring home the crown.
The season was 2008, and the Phillies managed 92 wins and first place in the NL East with a team of sluggers including Ryan Howard, Pat Burrell, Chase Utley, and Jayson Werth. They would knock out the Brewers and Dodgers to win the Pennant and advance to the fall classic against the upstart Tampa Bay Rays. In five games, the Phillies would beat the Rays to capture their second World Series in franchise history!

Rooting for the Pennant This Season
The Phillies dealt Jayson Werth in the offseason, but still have a solid core to contribute this season. With Ryan Howard coming off of 31 HRs last season and Case Utley and Raul Ibanez also having solid numbers, the Phillies will have a good chance to claim their fifth NL East crown in a row. Anchoring the already stellar pitching staff will be one of the best in the league and two time Cy Young winner Roy Halladay.
