With a rich tradition and history, the Philadelphia 76ers are looking to get back on the winning track this season. Philadelphia 76ers tickets have provided plenty of great moments over the years.
Philadelphia 76ers Tickets: Franchise Overview
The 76ers are one of the eight remaining original franchises from the NBA's first season in 1949-50.
In the beginning, the team was the Syracuse Nationals. Following the 1962-63 campaign, the franchise moved to Philadelphia. A year earlier, the Warriors franchise had left Philadelphia to move to the Bay Area.
The Nationals/76ers enjoyed plenty of early success. In its first 22 years in the NBA, the franchise never missed the playoffs.
However, in 1972-73, the 76ers entered the record books in a dubious fashion. The club's 9-73 record is still the worst single-season mark in the history of the league.
After two more losing seasons, Philadelphia returned to the postseason. From 1975-76 to 1990-91, the team missed the playoffs just once.
Following another down stretch through most of the nineties, the 76ers made five consecutive postseason appearances from 1998-99 to 2002-03.
Over the years, many elite players have suited up for the 76ers. Forward Dolph Schayes, guard Hal Greer, center Wilt Chamberlain, forward Billy Cunningham, forward Julius "Dr. J" Erving, center Moses Malone, forward Charles Barkley and guard Allen Iverson are among the top performers in the history of the franchise.
Championship Seasons
In 1954-55, Schayes led the franchise to its first NBA title. Just over a decade later, one of the most dominant squads in the history of the league would bring the franchise another championship. After a 68-13 regular season, the 1966-67 club rolled to a 4-1 series win over the San Francisco Warriors in the NBA Finals. With Malone and Erving leading the way, the 1982-83 team captured another NBA title for the franchise.
Home Arena
Since the 1996-97 season, the 76ers have played at the Wells Fargo Center (capacity of 20,444). The arena is also the home building for the NHL's Philadelphia Flyers. In a passionate sports city, Philadelphia 76ers tickets are always in high demand.
