Two coaches are responsible for building up the fortunes of the Cornhuskers on the gridiron. From 1962-72, Bob Devaney led Nebraska to seven top 10 finishes. His successor would also have plenty of success. Tom Osborne (1973-97) won at least nine games in every season that he coached the Cornhuskers.
Over the years, Nebraska has been able to win 43 conference championships. The program has advanced to 47 bowl games as well. From 1969-2003, the university never missed out on a postseason game.
Obviously, it has been hard for Nebraska's basketball program to match the amazing success that the Cornhuskers have enjoyed in football. In six trips to the NCAA tournament, Nebraska has yet to win a game. The Cornhuskers have claimed eight conference titles (7-regualr season, 1-tournament) in basketball.
Championship Seasons
