Los Angeles Dodgers Tickets: Bye Bye Brooklyn!
The Dodgers moved from Brooklyn and settled in Los Angeles in 1958 and began playing their home games in Dodger Stadium beginning the 1962 season. Having won 13 pennants and 2 World Series while based in New York, the Blue brought with them quite a winning tradition. It didn't take them long to continue the trend, as in just their second year in Los Angeles, the Dodgers would become World champions.
Having played in such close proximity for so many years in New York, the Dodgers and Yankees have created one of the most revered rivalries in all of sports. Starting in 1977, the two teams would face off in the World Series 3 times over a five year period, and the numerous east coast transplants in the Los Angeles area provided huge support for the visiting Yankees in, of all places, Dodger stadium!

The Gibson Factor
With a group of gritty veterans and one dominant pitcher in Orel Hershiser, the 1988 Dodgers were able to capture their 21st National league pennant and would face off against the heavily favored Oakland Athletics. The A's boasted the Bash Brothers, Jose Canseco and Mark McGwire, and one of the greatest closers in the game, Dennis Eckersley.
In what would be one of the most incredible moments in baseball history, the first game of the series would come down to the bottom of the ninth. With the help of a second inning grand slam by Canseco, the A's were well on their way to a game one victory.
However, the Dodgers clawed their way back to enter the last inning, trailing by one. With a man on second and two outs, the badly hobbled Kirk Gibson would pinch hit with the game on the line. After fouling off several of Eckersley's best, he would work the count full. Then on a 3-2 backdoor slider, Gibson would send the ball into the right field bleachers and send the Dodger nation into bedlam! They would go on to win the World Series in five games!
