The History of Joan Jett Tickets
Born in Philadelphia, PA, Joan Jett established her first band at age 15 when her family moved to Los Angeles. A Los Angeles record producer, Kim Fowley, quickly took notice of the teen band and soon became their manager. She renamed the band The Runaways and secured a contract for them with Mercury Records. After three albums and a limited U.S. commercial success, Joan Jett broke away from The Runaways and became a solo act.
Jett released her debut album in 1980 and independently released it herself because no labels wanted to sign her. Instead of the punky sound of The Runaways, Joan Jett's debut album was more rock and roll. After a solid release, Boardwalk Records took on the album and rereleased it under the title Bad Reputation. It was then that America began to take note, and the album climbed to number 51 on the charts. Jett then released her most popular song, "I Love Rock-n-Roll" and soon formed the Blackhearts.
Jett didn't experience another hit until 1988 when she released "I Hate Myself for Loving You" from the Up Your Alley album. The album became her second platinum record. After releasing a few more albums and recording a live album with the Gits, a Seattle-based punk rock band over the next, few years, Joan Jett reunited with the Blackhearts in 1999 and released the album, Fetish and in 2006, Sinner.
