Indiana Pacers Tickets: Franchise Overview

When the NBA began in 1949-50, the Indianapolis Olympians were one of the initial franchises in the league. However, the team disbanded after just four seasons.

Pro hoops returned to Indianapolis in 1967-68. As part of the new American Basketball Association, the Indiana Pacers would go on to become the most successful team over the league's nine-year run.

In 1976-77, the Pacers were one of the four ABA squads that were absorbed into the NBA. Indiana would struggle in the NBA until the nineties. During its first 13 years as an NBA club, the Pacers made the playoffs just twice.

The fortunes of the franchise would be quite different over the next 17 seasons. In this period, Indiana missed the postseason on just one occasion.  Lately, however, the Pacers have faltered with four straight losing years.

In over four decades, several players have stood out for the franchise. Center Mel Daniels, guard Freddie Lewis and guard Reggie Miller are among the elite performers in the history of the team.

Championship Seasons

In the ABA, the Pacers enjoyed a great run. Over nine years, the Indiana Pacers were in the finals on five different occasions. After losing in the 1969 finals, the Pacers defeated the Los Angeles Stars in the following year to win its first ABA crown.

In 1971-72 and 1972-73, the Pacers captured consecutive league titles. The squad also reached the finals in 1975, but lost to the Kentucky Colonels.

Since arriving in the NBA, Indiana's best shot at a championship came in the 1999-2000 campaign. With hoops legend Larry Bird coaching the club, the Pacers won the Eastern Conference title. In the NBA Finals, however, Indiana fell to the Los Angeles Lakers.

Home Arena

Since the 1999-2000 season, the Pacers have played at Conseco Fieldhouse (capacity of 18,345). In a facility that many feel is the top venue in the NBA, Indiana Pacers tickets provide a unique pro hoops experience.

Forward Danny Granger and center Roy Hibbert will lead the up and coming Pacers this season.

In 2010-11, the Chicago Bulls and Miami Heat will highlight the club's home slate. Also, Indiana Pacers tickets will be available for home outings against the Los Angeles Lakers, Boston Celtics and other top NBA squads.
