Cedric the Entertainer may have been best known for his massively successful run on the Original Kings of Comedy Tour, but his comedic performances on both the big and small screens have earned him a solid reputation as both an actor and a comedian.
The History of Cedric the Entertainer Tickets
Born Cedric Kyles in Missouri in 1964, Cedric the Entertainer first developed a love of singing and dancing at an early age. Although his love of comedy didn't begin until later, he became quite a talented singer and dancer and was involved in many plays and musicals during his early years.
As he became a teenager, Cedric's love of comedy began to take shape, and his stand-up comedy routine was formed. He won several comedy contents and performed at comedy clubs across the country to much success. His breakthrough arrived in 1989 when he was in the audience watching a Steve Harvey set. Cedric convinced the house management to let him perform a five-minute set for free. They agreed, and he was a huge success! Harvey witnessed this event and asked Cedric to headline his show back in Dallas.
However, it wasn't until his 1992 television appearance on It's Showtime at the Apollo did his career really take off. With this successful performance under his belt, Cedric then went onto appear on HBO's Def Comedy Jam and BET's ComicView.
Cedric the Entertainer then went on to host two years of ComicView during the 1994-95 season. During this time, he also won the BET Richard Pryor Comic of the Year Award.
Cedric the Entertainer has managed to remain quite popular throughout the years, thanks to his stand-up comedy routine with the Kings of Comedy Tour. He has also appeared consistently on both the big and small screen.
