Brett Dennen, a folk rock singer who believes that "music should help make a positive change in the world," has achieved both critical and commercial success.
The History of Brett Dennen Tickets
Brett Dennen grew up in northern California and spent much of his young adulthood working as a camp counselor. His work with children during this time led him to work for an Outward Bound type of program in Yosemite, California, where he led troubled teens (who were usually sentenced there by their probation offers or social workers) through the Sierra Nevada Mountains, teaching them about survival techniques.
Brett Dennen then left to attend the University of California-Santa Cruz, where he majored in community studies and social change. Throughout his college years, however, he began to gain an interest in music. Upon his graduation in 2002, Dennen began playing music at small coffeehouses and writing and recording his own music.
In 2005, Brett Dennen released his self-titled debut album and began selling Brett Dennen tickets and touring the West Coast. The sale of Brett Dennen tickets and his touring paid off, and his grassroots efforts landed him a deal with the major record label, Dualtone.
The singer began selling more Brett Dennen tickets and released So Much More in November 2006. After the release of this album, radio stations along the West Coast began playing his music, and some of his tunes were heard on popular television shows, such as Grey's Anatomy and House.
In 2006, Brett Dennen founded Love Speaks, an organization that allows nonprofit groups to make announcements and pass out information at his performances. He said he "wanted his concerts to have a larger impact than simply his appearing and singing, and the audience listening." During this time he also co-founded Mosaic Project, an outdoor school for youth.
Brett Dennen, in 2008, released his next studio effort, Hope for the Hopeless.
