Originally, this group was known as Unique Attraction and was founded at the Philadelphia High School for Creative and Performing Arts in 1988.  They found inspiration from New Edition, and taking one of their songs, renamed themselves Boyz II Men. 

In 1989, the group made it back stage at a Bell Biv DeVoe concert and met that group's front man and record producer Michael Bivins.  On the spot, the boys performed a cappella the song "Can You Stand the Rain."  As the story goes, Bivins was so impressed that he planned to sign the group immediately. 

By 1991, the group would release their debut album "Cooleyhighharmony" which ultimately sell 12 million copies worldwide!  They would follow that up with their second studio album released in 1994 titled "II" which would ultimately outperform their first album with over 15 million copies sold worldwide!  These amazingly talented singers would go on to record over 14 albums throughout and become international touring stars!
