Boston Bruins Tickets: Original Six Pride
The Boston Bruins are considered one of the original six teams of the NHL of the 1920s. With a grinding, blue collar style of play over the decades, they are second only to the Detroit Redwings for championships won for a U.S. based franchise, with five Stanley Cups.
They had convincingly won the cup in 1939 and again 1941 with a four game sweep over the Detroit Redwings. However, this would prove to be the beginning of long spell without any championships. Try as they would, the Bruins would reach the finals on five different occasions in the 40s and 50s, but came up short, including four losses to the Montreal Canadiens.

Ending the Drought
The Bruins had one of the all time greats on their blue line in Bobby Orr. He had been described among other things as poetry on ice! He had an amazing ability to possess the puck from behind his own net and skate through an entire team up the ice and score. He has been credited with revolutionizing the game, as he was really the first defensemen to display such scoring qualities.
In 1970, led by Orr, along with such greats as Phil Esposito, Derek Sanderson, Johnny Bucyk, Wayne Cashman, Ace Bailey, and Gerry Cheevers, the Bruins set out to end the 29 consecutive seasons they had gone without winning the cup. They made it to the finals facing the St. Louis Blues, winning the first two games on the road. Game three on home ice ended with a 4 to 1 win for the Bruins and getting them one step closer to clinching the title.
In game four, the Blues fought hard and were able to send the game into overtime, setting the stage for one of the most memorable finals goals in NHL history. Less than a minute into OT, Bobby Orr swooped in and scored the game winner, and the drought was over!

Chara: Skyscraper on Skates!
Bruins defenseman Zdeno Chara stands 6 foot 9, and then he puts skates on! At 261 pounds with a stick that's about 10 feet long, his presence is quite intimidating. Combine this with goalie Tim Thomas' miniscule GAA of 1.80, and you've got a winning formula. On the attack this season is left wing Milan Lucic, who leads the team in scoring.
