Arizona Diamondbacks Tickets: Sunny History
The Arizona Diamondbacks were founded in 1998 as part of Major League Baseball's two team expansion, with the other team playing in Tampa Bay as the Devil Rays.
Drawing on the passionate and numerous baseball fans in and around Phoenix, the Diamondbacks sold out their first game two months before the season even started, and all tickets were gone in a matter of hours.
In their first season, the Diamondbacks would win just 65 games and finish fifth in their division, 33 games out of first place. However, it would not take them long to start winning. In three out of their first five years, they would become division champions!

Capturing the World Series Championship Gem
In 2001, in just their fourth season, the Diamondbacks would put together an incredible season. With a lineup that included Mark Grace, Steve Finley, Matt Williams, and Tony Womack, they would win 92 games and beat out the San Francisco Giants by two games to capture the National League West crown.
Led during the season by pitchers Randy "The Big Unit" Johnson and Curt Schilling, who combined for 43 victories, as well as outfielder Luis Gonzalez who belted 57 homeruns, the D-Backs would face the New York Yankees in the World Series. The series would see Arizona win the first two games, only to have the Yankees win three in a row to take a 3 to 2 game edge going back to Arizona for game six. The D-Backs would score 15 runs in game six and force a seventh and deciding game.
In game seven in the bottom of the ninth and leading 2 to 1, the Yankees were three outs away from winning their fourth consecutive crown, and the unbeatable Mariano Rivera was on the mound. The Arizona Diamondbacks would scratch and claw to tie the game, and then with one out, Luis Gonzalez would single in the series winner for the improbable victory and the World Series Championship!

Phoenix Rising
This season, the Diamondbacks are strong up the middle with second baseman Kelly Johnson and shortstop Stephen Drew. They will look to build on last season, when they combined for 41 homeruns and 140 RBIs. Also adding pop will be right fielder Justin Upton, who will try to regain his form of two seasons ago, where he posted career highs in HRs, RBIs, and average.
