The History of Lionel Richie Tickets

Born in Tuskegee, Alabama, on June 20, 1949, Lionel Richie's first foray into music happened when he joined the group, the Commodores, while in college. The group signed on with Motown Records by the early 1970s and soon became on the most successful groups on the Motown record label.

Although Richie was both a saxophonist and vocalist for the group, it was his songwriting skills that seemed to get him the most recognition. During his time with the Commodores, Lionel Richie wrote the hugely popular ballads, "Easy," "Three Times a Lady," and "Still."

Although the Commodores enjoyed a string of hits throughout much of the 1970s, it was 1980 that Lionel Richie began to break out as a solo artist when he wrote and produced Kenny Rogers' huge hit, "Lady." The next year, Richie performed the duet, "Endless Love," with Diana Ross, which became the most successful release in Motown history.

Lionel Richie soon broke away from the Commodores because of his increasing success as a solo act, and in 1982, Lionel Richie released his first solo, self-titled album. This album was an immediate success and sold over four million copies. Lionel Richie tickets began to sell quickly, and the artist managed to release three, top-five songs from this album, the first of which was called "Truly."

After a string of very popular singles and selling countless Lionel Richie tickets, Richie lent his status as an accomplished songwriter to USA for Africa, and co-wrote "We are the World" with Michael Jackson.

By 1987, Richie dropped out of the music business to take some time off after nearly 20 years of making music, virtually non-stop. Motown released a compilation of his songs, entitled Back to Front, in 1992, but it wasn't until 1996 that Lionel Richie began recording again. When he finally released the album, Louder Than Words, the album went gold.

Richie released another album in 1998, entitled Time, and released Renaissance, in 2001. His 2006 album, Coming Home, was a collaboration with many notable artists, including Dallas Austin and Jermaine Dupri.
