With a father like Hank Williams III, talent is a given, and Hank Williams Jr. has his share. Born on May 26, 1949, Hank Williams Jr. is the son of the great Hank Williams, a country music pioneer. Sadly, at the age of four, Hank Williams Jr. lost his father to alcohol and drugs.

Although he struggled in his early years to establish himself as an artist, his began to enjoy his own fame in the 1980s. During this time, he earned a considerable amount of recognition from both the country music industry and the rock music industry. Much of his music from this time dealt with issues surrounding his father, and it was evident that many of the songs were dripping with raw emotion about his father's death and his own insecurities.

Hank Williams Jr. was named Entertainer of the Year by the Academy of Country Music and the Country Music Association in both 1987 and 1988, and according to one industry critic, he has managed to shake "the lingering spirit of his father's style."  His style, which is rough, edgy and sometimes wild, is all his own. He has consistently toured and released new work throughout his career.
