Corey Smith grew up in Georgia and was strongly influenced by George Jones, Lynyrd Synyrd, and Nirvana, and as a young adult, covered popular songs in local bars around his hometown.  However, he quickly realized that he didn't want to spend his life as an uneducated struggling musician, so enrolled in college and earned a degree from the University of Georgia and became a high school teacher. 

Still playing music for his friends and students, Corey Smith entered a song writing competition in 2002, where the winner would be awarded the chance to record an album.  Corey Smith won! 

He recorded his first album "Undertones," and soon his music would spread across Georgia, and not long after, he was in high demand from bar and club owners to play for their establishments.  He began touring college towns in and around the south, and a large following developed. 

By 2007, he recorded his fourth album and has been a bright newcomer to the country blues scene ever since.  He has recently released a new single "Twenty One" from his impending sixth album "The Broken Record"
