Chicago White Sox Tickets: From Charter History to Black Sox Scandal
The Chicago White Sox originated in 1900 as one of the eight charter franchises of Major League Baseball. They would win the World Series just a few seasons later in 1906 for the first time and again in 1917 led by the legendary Shoeless Joe Jackson.
Playing a defensive minded brand of baseball, the White Sox earned the nickname "the Hitless Wonders!"
In 1919, the infamous "Black Sox" scandal rocked the league, and several players were banned from baseball for life. This would be the last time for a long time that the White Sox would see the playoffs.

The ChiSox Cometh
Since winning it all in 1917, the Sox would make the playoffs just five times over the next 88 years. Entering the 2005 season with head coach Ozzie Guillen, the White Sox would incorporate "Ozzie Ball" and forge their way to 99 wins and first place in the AL Central.
That year, first baseman Paul Konerko led the team with 40 homeruns, and teammates Jermaine Dye, A.J. Pierzynski, Carl Everett, and Juan Uribe had solid seasons. The pitching staff dominated with Mark Buehrle, Freddy Garcia, Jose Contreras, and Jon Garland, who combined for 63 wins.
They would roll through the playoffs, losing just one game to capture their first World Series championship since 1917!

Building on Tradition
This season, the Sox will look to Paul Konerko to continue his production. He is coming off 39 HRs and 111 RBIs last season and also led the team with a .312 average. A true catalyst for the offense, and leading the team in hits last year, will be left fielder Juan Pierre, as long as he gets on base.
Also adding to the offense this season will be newly acquired first baseman Adam Dunn, who has clubbed at least 38 HRs in each of the past three seasons! Anchoring the rotation will be always solid Mark Buerhrle.
