Guitarist Bruce Ben founded Asking Alexandria while in Dubai and actually recorded a full length album before the band broke up.  Moving back to England in 2008, Bruce decided to start a new band, but kept his original name of Asking Alexandria.

With new members Sam Bettley, James Cassells, Cameron Liddell, and Danny Worsnop, the new group would forge a new sound.  They would play in and around England before embarking on a trip to America without a recording contract.  Playing as many gigs as they could and slowly building a following, Asking Alexandria they found their opportunity!

By mid 2009, the band would hit The Foundation Recording Studios in Indiana and record their first studio album.  After the album was recorded, they signed their first contract with Sumerian Records, and in September of 2009 "Stand Up and Scream" was released!  The album would reach number 29 on the Top Independent albums and number 5 on the Top Heatseekers chart and feature the singles "Final Episode (Let's Change the Channel)" and "A Candlelit Dinner With Inamorta."

Upon the release of "Stand Up and Scream," the band would tour with other better known bands such as Alesana and Enter Shikari to increase their exposure in the states.
